Salary

  • First year  RESIDENTIAL staff members earn $400 per week. Second year staff members earn $430. Third year staff members earn $460. Fourth year staff members and beyond earn $490.
  • First Year DAY camp staff members earn $300 per week. Second year staff members earn $330. Third year staff members earn $360. Fourth year staff members earn $390.
  • Camp Assistants may volunteer or receive a weekly salaried rate of $160.  Returning staff members earn $10 more per week for each summer worked to a maximum of $190.
  • Food Service Staff are paid hourly at a set rate dicussed in the interview. 
  • Staff salaries for all positions are directly deposited into staff member’s personal accounts every two weeks.  
  • International Staff are compensated within the terms of their contract between the international staffing company and CYO Camp. ​

General Camp Staff and some Leadership staff members are required to work at least four of the camp weeks.​
  • Leadership positions that require 8 weeks are allotted five personal days. No more than two may be taken consecutively. 
  • Internships are available. Contact Lauren at lauren@campranchoframasa.org for more information.
  • Time off is provided daily. For Residential staff: weekend time off begins at 4pm on Friday and ends at 9:30am on Sunday.​
  • Camp Assistants are scheduled to work 1-3 weeks of the camp weeks.
  • Food Service staff are scheduled weekly. 
  • Day camp staff are expected to work all three sessions of day camp: June 12-16 at Roncalli High School, June 19-23 at Roncalli High School, and July 10-14 at Bishop Chatard High School.

Training

Residential Summer Staff Training
The below training applies to General Camp Staff and Leadership Staff. 
  • Staff training is mandatory.
  • Staff members will live in residence at camp during this training. 
  • Returning staff arrive Saturday, May 27 at 1pm.
  • New staff arrive Sunday, May 28 at 11am. 
  • Staff training ends for everyone on June 2 at 4pm. 
 
​Additional Optional Training Opportunities

General Camp Staff and Leadership Applicants who are interested and qualified may attend the following training classes prior to camp staff training. Indicate the training you are interested in on the application. An interview will help determine if applicants are a good match for the classes.  

Wrangler Training: May 20-21
Qualifications: Experience working with horses and people together. Comfortable around horses and desire to learn horsemanship skills.

Inclusive Counseling Training: May 20-21
Qualifications: Experience with or education in working with children who have disabilities. Camp staff experience is helpful. 

American Lifeguarding Certification: May 21-23
Qualifications:  Be a strong swimmer. Interest in and capable of  earning lifeguard certification. Ability to complete online course work before arriving for LG training, approximately 7 ½ hours.

Challenge Course Training: May 24-26
Qualifications: Climbing experience helpful. Comfortable climbing heights. Camp experience is helpful. 

Adventure Staff Training: May 24-26
Qualifications: Camp staff and leadership experience. Comfortable with heights, caves, and primitive camping. Experience working with teens. 



More for Residential Staff

  • Cell phones may ONLY be used on camp during scheduled time-off.  Cell phones MAY NOT be visible to campers, used as clocks or alarms, carried when moving about camp with campers or, used in the cabins. Cell phones MAY be charged in the staff lounge, used for calling and texting on scheduled time off, and used in the evening (for staff not on cabin duty) outside the cabin.  When using cell phones in the evening outside the cabin, staff members must be at least 50 yards from all cabins and not be heard or seen by campers. Cell phones may be used freely during weekend time off.
  • Personal medication (prescription and over the counter) is not allowed in cabins/backpacks and must be stored and locked in the Health Care Center.
Day Camp Staff Training 
This training will be held June 6 & 7 from 11-5 each day and is mandatory. 
Food Service Staff Training
This training is "on the job" and will be scheduled with staff members. 
Camp Assistant Staff Training
This training is "on the job" and provided to staff members on an ongoing basis when they are working at camp. 

More for All Staff

  • Staff members are paid for training.
  • Although camp  has strong faith programming that is based on the Catholic faith, staff do not have to be Catholic to work at camp. Staff are expected to pray with staff and campers, to lead prayer, and to attend Mass (services) with campers.
  • The illegal use of any controlled substance is prohibited while employed by Camp Rancho Framasa. Underage drinking is prohibited.  Staff members 21 years of age and older are expected to drink alcohol responsibly, keeping within the legal limits. No alcoholic beverages may be brought onto camp property, and no one is to return to camp under the influence. Possession or use of alcoholic beverages at camp or during camp activities, illegal use of alcohol at any time during a counselors’ employment (including time off), and returning to camp under the influence of alcohol is grounds for dismissal. Smoking is not permitted.
  •  The health of staff members is closely monitored. Illness or injury may preclude staff members from continuing work at camp. Workman’s compensation may not cover all cases; a staff member’s insurance provider would be financially responsible when so deemed. Decisions made regarding continued employment will be made by the camp administration and they will use several factors; the factors are: recommendation of the in-house camp nurse, the recommendation of a licensed physician, and the recommendation of the staff member’s direct support person.
  • Physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual abuse or harassment of campers and/or staff is prohibited and will result in dismissal.
  • Gossip and negativity among the staff community are not tolerated and are grounds for dismissal.
  • A vegetarian meal is offered at each meal. Alternative meals for staff that have food allergies are available.
  • Personal pets/other animals may not be brought to camp.
  • Each staff member will be given a staff shirt to be worn on opening and closing day of each session.
